ATTY. EDSEL TUPAZ

Partner, Gorriceta Africa Cauton and Saavedra

Edsel Tupaz, is a Partner at Gorriceta Africa Cauton and Saavedra. A dual-qualified lawyer in the Philippines and the US, Edsel’s practice focuses on infrastructure law, technology, public policy, regulatory affairs, and select questions of international and comparative law. A member of the Philippine Bar and the New York Bar, Edsel received his Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Harvard Law School, Cambridge, Massachusetts. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (Honors Program, cum laude) and Juris Doctor from the Ateneo de Manila University (Second Honors, St. Thomas More Most Outstanding Award). He studied the business economics and application of blockchain technologies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology | Sloan School of Management.

DR. JINGFENG HUANG

Lecturer and Researcher, Republic Polytechnic of Singapore, Singapore

Jingfeng is currently a lecturer and researcher in the Republic Polytechnic of Singapore. He has worked on interdisciplinary greening projects, which include novel photo-electrochemical cells, carbon sensors for hazardous gas detection, moisture management for textiles, bio-degradable air filters and smart windows. He is also involved in the ASEAN Sub-committee on Science and Technology, PMI Chapter, Residential Committee and Red Cross Home for the Disabled. He won the Best Conexus Center Award from Republic Polytechnic; Research Excellence Award from Nanyang Technological University and others. He obtained his PhD jointly from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and Loughborough University, United Kingdom. He is a recipient of ASEAN Science Diplomats Award.

DR. KUOK FIDERO

Dean, Faculty of Chemical and Food Engineering, Institute of Technology of Cambodia, Cambodia

Fidero Kuok is currently ASEAN-Science-Technology-and-Innovation (STI) Fellow and Dean of Faculty of Chemical and Food Engineering, Institute of Technology of Cambodia. He is an Environmental Engineer by training and STI advocate. He has collaborations with Cambodia, ASEAN, Japanese, European and the United States. His research focuses on agroecological system and chemical contamination, which contributes to sustainable development goals. He is also the Program Manager of Technical Business Incubation for Food Product Development (Bi4FPD). He narrows the gap of societal and environmental challenges via responsible consumption and production of new start-ups.

DR. MARILEN PARUNGAO BALOLONG

Associate Dean for Research and Public Service, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Manila, Philippines

Marilen Parungao Balolong is currently an Associate Professor of Microbiology at the Department of Biology and the Associate Dean for Research and Public Service of the College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Manila. She is a Diplomate Microbiologist as certified by the Philippine Academy of Microbiology. She was trained as a microbiologist in UP Los Baños (BS Biology major in Microbiology, MS Microbiology minor in Biochemistry) and UP Manila where she obtained the degree in Doctor of Public Heath in Medical Microbiology. She is an advocate for One Health and Planetary Health projects. She is also a recipient of the ASEAN Science Diplomats.

DR. MARIA RUTH PINEDA CORTEL

Professor and Scientist, Faculty of Pharmacy Department of Medical Technology, University of Santo Tomas, Philippines

Maria Ruth Pineda has interest on health and took up Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Medical Technology and Doctorate Degree in Biological Science. Currently, she is a college professor at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Pharmacy Department of Medical Technology, where she is involved in honing future medical technologists, in serving the community through public health, and in doing health related researches. Her research interests are focused on gestational diabetes mellitus, dengue and malaria, and climate change. She is a recipient of ASEAN- U.S. Science and Technology Fellowship in 2014 and ASEAN Science Diplomats Award in 2018.
